LilyPad Coin Cell Battery Holder - Switched - 20mm
Sure, your flashing, chip-tune playing T-shirt is really cool at the party… but at some point you need to turn it off. And yes, you could just pull the battery, or maybe you’ve even sewn a LilyPad slide switch in-line. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was just a switch on the battery? Well, look no further. This LilyPad Coin Cell Battery Holder has a small slide switch installed on the board, in-line with the power so you can shut off your project and save batteries. This slide switch is the same as on the LilyPad Slide Switch Board, so it’s not easy to accidentally turn off or on. Just like the original Coin Cell Battery Holder, this simple board holds a 20mm coin cell battery (such as a CR2032) and gives you four connection points (two positive and two negative) for sewing into your project. Additionally, we have strengthened the battery connector on this board in order to ensure that it doesn’t accidentally pop off. Note: A portion of this sale is given back to Dr. Leah Buechley for continued development and education of e-textiles.

Lilypad USB Plus
This is the LilyPad USB Plus, a sewable electronics microcontroller board controlled by an ATmega32U4 with the Arduino bootloader. It has a built in power supply JST (and recharge circuit) and an on/off switch with the only extra piece of hardware you need to program the LilyPad USB Plus being a micro-USB cable. We’ve also added an RGB LED in the dead-center of the board along with six white LEDs to act as a sort of bar graph. The LilyPad USB Plus was designed to streamline your next sewable project by keeping things simple and giving you more room to work while eliminating the need to sew a power supply. It has fourteen sew tabs for connecting components with conductive thread. Four of these tabs are reserved for connecting power and ground of LilyPad sensors and accessory boards, and ten are input/output (I/O). For reference, each sew tab has a nearby label with its name and the pin number it is connected to on the ATmega32U4 chip at its center. LilyPad is a wearable e-textile technology developed by Leah Buechley and cooperatively designed by Leah and SparkFun. Each LilyPad was creatively designed to have large connecting pads to allow them to be sewn into clothing. Various input, output, power, and sensor boards are available in the LilyPad line but will also work with most other wearable e-textile lines. They’re even washable! Please be aware that the Lilypad USB Plus is NOT supported on Windows 7/8 due to a lack of support drivers for those specific OS’s. Electro-Fashion conductive thread, 50 yards/ 45m
This is Kitronik's very own Electro-Fashion® branded Conductive Thread and we think it is among the best conductive thread available. It is perfect for hand sewing and can also be used on the bottom bobbin of a sewing machine (this will require the thread to be wound on to the smaller bottom bobbin first). Conductive thread can be used like conventional sewing yarn, however it electrically conducts allowing electronics to be integrated into textiles. This makes it ideal for use in a range of e-textile applications. The thread is nano plated with silver to make it conductive. The conductive thread has a generally low resistance but it does vary. We have measured between 40 and 160 ohms per meter, depending on the tension the thread is under. Once sewn the resistance is typically in the middle of this range. Over time the silver plating will degrade particularly if washed and we have measured in excess of 280 ohms on some of our older examples. Resistance does not vary significantly from one length of thread to the next, so you should be able to use this thread without concern for "dead" sections. The conductive thread has a breaking strain of around 9.3 pounds (4.2 kilos). It comprises roughly 96 individual filaments, each coated with a micron-thick layer of natural silver. This plating of the yarn is done in Europe to ensure as high a quality finish as possible. In construction, 16 of these filaments are wound together to form an initial twist; two of these twists are then twisted together, and finally three of these twists are combined to form the finished thread. The conductive thread is approximately 18 denier. It is heavier than a regular sewing thread, but not as heavy as an upholstery thread. It can be sewn on most domestic sewing machines using either a regular needle or the next size up. This thread does not fray. Features: No (or very low) fray. Conductivity = approximately 40Ω per metre (12.2Ω per foot). Count = 875 dTex. Strength 3000 cN. Elongation at break = 37%. Twist = 240Z-380S. Contents: 1 x Reel Electro-Fashion®, Conductive Thread, 50 yards / 45m.

Lilypad Conductive Thread Bobbin
This is 12 meters of smooth conductive thread spun from stainless steel fiber and wound on a plastic bobbin. Use it to sew up all of your e-textile projects. This small bobbin is a great way to get into wearable electronics without the upfront cost of buying an entire spool of thread. Close to 40 feet of thread is enough to get a simple design stitched onto your shirt, backpack or hat. What sets this thread apart from the other conductive thread that we carry is the fact that it’s actually spun from 12UM stainless steel fiber making it incredibly smooth and without the loose hairs seen on other bobbins. This means that while it may not be easy to solder to, because it’s stainless, it also won’t burn up when you touch it with a soldering iron. Suitable for hand or machine sewing (as a bobbin thread). We’ve had no trouble using it for close, tight connections, but if you’re worried, waxing the thread should keep it manageable!

LilyPad ProtoSnap Plus
The LilyPad ProtoSnap Plus is a sewable electronics prototyping board that you can use to explore circuits and programming, then break apart to make an interactive fabric or wearable project. Programming the ProtoSnap Plus is easy with the free Arduino software you’ll need to program the ATmega32U4 on LilyPad USB Plus at the heart of the board. Once you’ve installed the software, you’ll be able to write and upload your own programs to the board, making it do almost anything you want. At the center of the ProtoSnap Plus is the LilyPad USB Plus microcontroller, pre-wired to a LilyPad board including a LilyPad Light Sensor, LilyPad Buzzer, LilyPad Button Board, four pairs of colored LilyPad LEDs and a LilyPad Slide Switch. Because these components are connected together on the ProtoSnap board, you can test out your project ideas before you sew. The ProtoSnap Plus also includes expansion ports that let you sew your wearables together or use alligator cables to easily connect external sensors and components. After testing out your coding ideas using the attached LilyPad pieces, you can break apart the prototyping board and sew them into your project! Please be aware that the Lilypad ProtoSnap Plus is NOT supported on Windows 7/8 due to a lack of support drivers for those specific OS’s. LilyTwinkle
The LilyTwinkle is a tiny little LilyPad board designed to add some twinkle to your project. Even though it's as small as some of the LilyPad sensors, this board actually has an ATtiny microcontroller on it so it's actually pretty smart! Simply sew on 4 LEDs and connect a battery and the LEDs will twinkle-fade (a lot like fireflies... or lightning bugs, if that's what you call them). LilyTwinkle is a quick and easy way to add twinkling lights to a project without any programming or a bulky Main Board. If you're an advanced user and want to re-program the LilyTwinkle, the ICSP programming connectors are broken out on the back. LilyPad is a wearable e-textile technology developed by Leah Buechley and cooperatively designed by Leah and SparkFun. Each LilyPad was creatively designed to have large connecting pads to allow them to be sewn into clothing. Various input, output, power, and sensor boards are available. Note: A portion of this sale is given back to Dr. Leah Buechley for continued development and education of e-textiles.

nOOds - Flexible LED Filament - 3V 300mm Weiss
Our favourite food when chopping code or electronics is a hot bowl of noodles - and in New York they are often called "noods"! What we have here are flexible LED noodles in different lengths and colours. All of them are not good for eating, but they are good for cool lighting effects. These are often seen in "Edison-like" LED lights, shaped into hearts or stars or simply wrapped around to create a fun or warm lighting effect. They consist of dozens of micro-LED diodes connected together on an ultra-flexible metal back and then coated with coloured silicone for protection. Because the LEDs are connected in parallel, you only need 3 V to make them light up - we recommend current limiting with a resistor to let a maximum of 50 mA through. One piece per pack. Add some miniature noodle-y neon bling to your miniature sets, dioramas, dollhouses, mini verses what have you! These look and feel like we've always wanted an EL cord to look and feel, and since it's just a "big long LED", you can easily dim it via PWM. Just switch on with 3 V by connecting both ends - the anode should be the metal end with a small hole in it. If it doesn't light up immediately, try it the other way round, no problem. This noodle is 300 mm long.

Electroluminescent (EL) Wire
EL Wire, also known as Electroluminescent wire, is a stiff wire core coated with phosphor and then covered with a protective PVC sheath. When an AC signal is applied to it, it glows an blue color. You can make it look different colors by changing the coating. It looks a little like thin neon. Very bendable, it keeps its shape and you can curl it around your finger. Its an easy way to add some glow to a project, not as bright as LEDs but uses a lot less power! We've got 2.6mm thickness EL wire, with a lime green coat, pre-cut and soldered to a standard quick-connect EL wire. We used to stock Wanyu EL wire, but sadly they've closed doors so we no longer have the high-brightness EL wire. That said, this brand seems to be good quality and close in brightness! Often used for costuming, decoration, accent lighting, safety vests, bicycle/motorcycle/car/boat/home decoration, signs, etc! This wire is not designed explicitly for outdoor use so it will fade if continuously exposed to UV. To use, the wire must be connected to an inverter that provides an AC supply of approximately 100V at 2000 Hz. An inverter is not included! This wire is 250 cm long which is the maximum that can be driven by our handy 2xAA portable pocket inverter The full length draws 200mA from the 2xAA batteries (so 2000mAh batteries will last ~10 hours if on 'constant' mode) We used EL wire to make our awesome TRON bag so check it out for ideas. This is a pre-cut, pre-soldered, 250 cm long piece of EL You can plug this right into an inverter and get glowing in seconds, and if you want to do something a little more complex, cut and resolder it as desired. Soldering to EL wire is a little tricky but luckily we wrote a detailed step-by-step tutorial! To cut and re-solder EL, you'll need wire strippers, a soldering iron & solder, copper tape and heat shrink. A third-hand tool is really useful as well. ⚠️ Please note! EL tape, EL wire and EL panel are made with different processes - the color and brightness will not be consistent between the different types of EL products. The EL tape will not match the EL wire or EL panel exactly, they all will be slightly different colors.

EL wire 2xAA pocket inverter
A small, portable inverter for EL wire. Powers off of 2 AA batteries (not included!), it can drive 1 to 8 feet (about 2.5m) of our high-brightness EL wire for 10 hours. There is a button for selecting steady/blink/off modes. There's a removable clip on the back. Comes with a 2.5mm pitch female JST connector To connect a piece EL wire to this, you'll want a male connector wire The EL inverter requires a 'load' to stabilize itself. Do not run the inverter without at least 1 ft of EL wire attached! Otherwise the inverter can spike and damage itself Like all inverters we've used, the 2000 Hz oscillation is slightly audible. To reduce the squeaking, we suggest opening up the case padding it with thick foam tape/weatherstripping. Squirting some hot glue around the capacitors may also help. We managed to get it silent this way. We used this to make our awesome TRON bag Soldering to EL wire is a little tricky but luckily we wrote a detailed step-by-step tutorial!
