City of the Future Teacher's Box Starter Kit (for 12)

Product information "City of the Future Teacher's Box Starter Kit (for 12)"

Kids are given an opportunity to imagine and design the city of the future they would like to live in. The city changes constantly as they get introduced to new technologies and learn to act as a team. The course introduces them to urban development concepts like governance and sustainability. They have to come up with solutions by creating a scaled down model with laser cutting, 3D printing and programmable microcontrollers. While building the city they are seeking answers for the challenges of the future they will soon experience.

Maker’s Red Box contains everything but a makerspace that a teacher and a group of 12 students need to start making. It consists of 16 two-hour long sessions that build on each other.

Making-Aktivitäten mit Kindern und Jugendlichen
33 projects related to creative digital design with children and young people in school, in leisure time and MINT initiatives are presented in this handbook. In addition, background information on making is described. Among the project descriptions are concepts for open digital workshops for children, youth hackathons, makerspaces at school, workshop offerings and lessons around 3D modeling, optics, stereoscopy and virtual reality. Whether programming, 3D printing, photography with smartphones or making animated films with tablets, soldering LEDs or working with Raspberry Pi, the MaKey-MaKey kit or other new and old tools: It always revolves around how the world around digital and technology can be creatively designed and reinvented together with children. Preference is given to projects that can also be implemented by beginners and adapted for their own purposes: Upcycling, waste avoidance, participation, inexpensive materials and free tools, as well as largely dispensing with special and expensive kits are the basis of the selection. Mit Beiträgen von Ralf Appelt, Matthias Andrasch, Silvana Aureli, Dominik Bartel, Gerhard Brandhofer, Henrike Boy, Guido Brombach, Martin Ebner, Gerald Geier, Steffen Griesinger, Tobias Hübner, Julia Kleeberger, Gregor Lütolf, Victoria Mader, Kurt Meister, Werner Moser, Kristin Narr, Zwetana Penova, Markus Peißl, Hans-Bodo Pohla, Ingrid Reip, Eike Rösch, Bettina Scheurer, Martin Schön, Sandra Schön, Björn Schreiber, Christine Schwarz, Daniel Seitz, Friederike Siller, Markus Sindermann, Michael Spitzer, Michael Tillmann, Karin Winkel, Mathias Wunderlich, Isabel Zorn und Yvonne Zylka.

Superheroes Teacher's Box
Participants create superheroes to express their feelings and experiences. By using storytelling methods, maker technologies and creative writing they express complex emotions in the form of objects. For this, children employ technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics and microcontrollers or even sewing. After the participants created their very own heroes, they face interesting and fun challenges and delve into deep ethical and moral questions in their adventures.
